TLDR Children's hair needs only a little iron for normal growth, regardless of their body's iron levels.
The study examined the iron content in hair shafts of children aged 6 to 36 months with iron deficiency anemia, iron overload, and those without hematological disease. It found no significant differences in hair iron content among the three groups, nor any correlation between hair iron content and hemoglobin levels. Additionally, hair color did not affect iron content. The study concluded that only small amounts of iron were necessary for normal hair growth in children, regardless of their overall body iron balance.
