TLDR Interval training is better for heart and metabolic health in reproductive-aged females than regular moderate exercise.
Interval training, characterized by alternating intense and recovery periods, offers superior cardiometabolic health benefits compared to moderate-intensity continuous exercise for reproductive-aged females. This review highlights its potential advantages for those with overweight/obesity, polycystic ovary syndrome, subfertility, and during pregnancy, while also considering the impact of oral contraceptives. Despite promising findings, further research is necessary to solidify exercise recommendations for this demographic.
