TLDR New method quickly and accurately measures dexpanthenol in hair products.
The document detailed the creation of a new method for measuring dexpanthenol in hair care products, utilizing ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS). This method was developed to address the shortcomings of previous methods, such as being time-consuming and not robust enough for routine quality control. It demonstrated excellent linearity (R² of 0.9998), precision (RSDs less than 2.5%), accuracy (recoveries within 2%), and robustness (results within 3% of nominal conditions), with a quantitation range of 170.24-1024.5 ng/mL. Validated for routine laboratory use, this method offers a faster, more accurate, and simpler solution for analyzing dexpanthenol in shampoos and conditioners. The research was backed by Amway Research and Development.
