TLDR Low-penetration genes might help personalize colorectal cancer prevention.
This study investigated the association between SIRT1 gene polymorphisms and colorectal cancer (CRC) risk, focusing on three SNPs in the SIRT1 gene's promoter region. The case-control study included 200 patients with colorectal adenocarcinoma and 115 controls. Although no statistically significant differences in SIRT1 polymorphism frequencies were found between the CRC and control groups, a trend was observed that suggests further research with larger cohorts is needed. The study emphasizes the potential of low-penetration genetic factors to enhance personalized CRC prevention strategies.
