TLDR Tretinoin cream boosts minoxidil absorption, possibly improving hair loss treatment.
A study found that tretinoin cream can enhance the absorption of minoxidil from a topical solution, potentially improving its effectiveness in treating hair loss. The study involved male volunteers with male pattern baldness and found that tretinoin increased absorption by almost three times without adverse effects. Tretinoin increases skin permeability, which enhances the absorption of minoxidil. However, some subjects experienced scalp irritation and redness. Further research is needed to determine the optimal concentration and safety of this combination.
