TLDR Carthamus caeruleus root juice may reduce inflammation.
The study explores the anti-inflammatory potential of Carthamus caeruleus L. root juice (CRJ) using in vitro and in silico methods. CRJ demonstrated significant protective effects against various stress-induced damages in erythrocytes, with protection levels up to 90.51%. It also inhibited albumin denaturation by 61.5%. Molecular docking revealed strong interactions between CRJ flavonoids and the COX-2 enzyme, suggesting a mechanism similar to standard anti-inflammatory drugs. Despite promising results, further in vivo studies are necessary to confirm CRJ's efficacy and safety.
