TLDR Unripe and ripe bananas can help lower blood sugar levels.
The study investigated the hypoglycemic effects of unripe and ripe Musa sapientum fruit extracts using in-vitro methods. Both extracts demonstrated the ability to adsorb glucose, with increased adsorption at higher glucose concentrations, and showed no significant difference in adsorption capacity. They inhibited glucose diffusion and promoted glucose uptake by yeast cells, with effects dependent on sample and glucose concentration. The hypoglycemic effects were attributed to the inhibition of α-amylase, glucose adsorption, and enhanced glucose transport across cell membranes.
