TLDR Larger prostate size, longer surgery, and smoking increase risks, while finasteride and experienced surgeons reduce them during prostate surgery.
This study investigates factors influencing blood loss and fluid absorption during plasmakinetic transurethral resection of the prostate (PK-TURP) in high-risk benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) patients. Key risk factors identified include larger prostate volume, longer operation time, greater resected tissue weight, venous sinus opening, and smoking. Conversely, preoperative finasteride treatment and greater surgeon experience are associated with reduced risks. Surgical capsule perforation notably increases fluid absorption risk. The endoscopic surgical monitoring system (ESMS) is highlighted as an innovative tool for real-time monitoring, aiding in precise identification of these impact factors and improving perioperative decision-making.
