Effects of Huoxue Bushen Mixture on Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Expression in Human Dermal Papilla Cells

The study investigated the effects of Huoxue Bushen Mixture on the proliferation of dermal papilla cells and the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in these cells. Using 12 SD rats divided into three groups, the researchers compared the effects of Huoxue Bushen Mixture, Yangxue Shengfa Capsule, and sodium chloride. Results showed that the Huoxue Bushen Mixture group had a higher number of dermal papilla cells and significantly increased VEGF mRNA and protein expression compared to the other groups. The study concluded that Huoxue Bushen Mixture could up-regulate VEGF expression in human dermal papilla cells, thereby increasing cell proliferation and promoting hair growth.
