TLDR Training programs are needed to improve home COVID-19 management practices.
The study conducted in Mangalore, India, assessed the practices, awareness, and perceptions of 294 participants regarding home-based COVID-19 management. It revealed significant gaps in knowledge, with only 6.5% aware of all mild symptoms and 13.6% knowing the normal oxygen saturation level. A mere 2% knew the correct duration for home isolation. Despite 82.2% of diagnosed individuals managing their condition at home, practices like monitoring vital signs were infrequent, and self-medication was common. The study concluded that there was a need for training programs to improve home management practices and adherence to health guidelines. However, the online participant selection might not represent the entire population.
