TLDR The "sinuskissen" in cat hair follicles is mostly connective tissue, affecting fluid flow.
The study focused on the "sinuskissen" in the sinus hair follicle of cats, examining its cytological and histological features and three-dimensional structure. The "sinuskissen" was found to be composed of connective tissue with few cells and a high amount of ground substance, characterized by a loose network of collagen fibers and low glycoprotein and proteoglycan content. This structure made it susceptible to changes in aqueous flow, with potential functional implications. The "sinuskissen" exhibited an asymmetrical shape, either as a closed or incomplete ring, often positioned obliquely, which was highlighted through three-dimensional modeling.
