TLDR Finasteride improves hidradenitis suppurativa in children with no adverse effects.
This document reports a case series of five children with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) who were treated with finasteride for up to 24 months. All patients showed improvement in their condition, with a reduction in the frequency and intensity of flares, and no adverse effects were observed. The authors suggest that finasteride may be an effective monotherapy for HS in children, but further studies are necessary to fully understand its role in the management of this disease. The authors advise judicious use of this drug, always in agreement with the parents and the pediatrician after discussing the risks and benefits of treatment.
