TLDR Portulaca-based hair tonics are promising eco-friendly and effective cosmetic alternatives.
The study explores the potential of Portulaca species, particularly Portulaca oleracea and Portulaca grandiflora, in developing eco-friendly hair tonics due to their hair growth-promoting properties. Conducted at the Research Laboratory of FTI-UMI, the research involved phytochemical analysis and formulation testing, including pH, viscosity, density, and organoleptic properties. The results showed that Portulaca oleracea L. extract in Formulation 1 had a pH of 4.13, meeting the Indonesian National Standard for cosmetics, while Portulaca grandiflora H. extract also demonstrated acceptable quality with a pH of 4.25. The study concludes that Portulaca-based hair tonics have significant potential as sustainable and effective alternatives in the cosmetic industry.
