Dr. James E. Vogel expressed his pleasure in co-editing a special issue on hair restoration surgery, highlighting the diversity of approaches within the field due to the varied backgrounds of the Society of Hair Restoration Surgery's members. He acknowledged the challenges in conducting ideally suited research studies with matched controls and statistical analysis in cosmetic and hair restoration surgery, but emphasized the importance of the take-home messages provided in the editorial comments of the issue. Despite the limitations of some articles, the effort to compile the issue was described as joyful, and Vogel hoped readers would find it rewarding and beneficial. Dr. Vogel, with a private practice in Baltimore and a clinical instructor role at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, is also the President of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and has contributed to the field through publications and lectures.
