    The study on Yuyi hairless mice revealed that these mice initially grew a normal coat of hair, which began to shed around 12 days after birth, starting from the periorbit and progressing caudally. By 2 weeks, they developed alopecia, with no new hair growth, and their skin became visibly thickened, loose, and formed folds as they aged. Scanning electron microscopy showed that hair follicles widened before hair loss, and by 2 months, bubble-like substances appeared on the skin. By 8 months, these were replaced by keratinized material, and the skin's structure, including elastic fibers, became disorganized, with larger cysts forming in the dermis.
