Ginsenoside F2 Reduces Hair Loss by Controlling Apoptosis through the Sterol Regulatory Element-Binding Protein Cleavage Activating Protein and Transforming Growth Factor-β Pathways in a Dihydrotestosterone-Induced Mouse Model

TLDR Ginsenoside F2 may help prevent hair loss and promote hair growth better than finasteride.
In the 2014 study, ginsenoside F2 was found to significantly reduce hair loss in a DHT-induced mouse model by inhibiting apoptosis pathways. The substance increased cell proliferation rates by 48% in DHT-treated human hair cells, compared to a 12% increase by finasteride. Ginsenoside F2 also decreased the expression of TGF-β2 and other proteins associated with hair loss, and in vivo tests with C57BL/6 mice demonstrated improved hair growth, density, and thickness over finasteride treatment. The study, which used 10 mice per treatment group, concluded that ginsenoside F2 could be a potent agent for preventing hair loss and promoting hair growth, potentially through its effects on the SCAP and TGF-β pathways.
