TLDR Accurate diagnosis and proper treatment are crucial for managing fungal skin infections in children.
The article discussed various fungal skin infections in children, emphasizing that while pediatricians are generally familiar with candidal diaper dermatitis, there is a lack of awareness about other fungal infections. Candidal diaper dermatitis is the most common fungal infection in childhood, typically affecting the diaper area due to irritant contact dermatitis. Preschool-aged children are more prone to tinea infections, especially tinea capitis, which affects the hair and nails. In prepubertal children, tinea capitis and tinea corporis are prevalent, whereas adolescents are more likely to develop tinea pedis, tinea cruris, and onychomycosis. The article aimed to enhance the understanding of these infections among readers.
