TLDR Eclipta alba phytosomes improve bioavailability and therapeutic effects.
The study developed phytosomes of Eclipta alba to improve its bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy. Eclipta alba, known for its hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, has poor solubility and low bioavailability. By forming phytosomes with phospholipids, the study achieved a particle size of 150 nm, a zeta potential of -30 mV, and an encapsulation efficiency of 85%, indicating good stability. The phytosomes showed superior in vitro antioxidant activity with IC50 values of 12.5 μg/mL and 15 μg/mL in DPPH and ABTS assays, respectively, compared to the free extract. In vivo studies demonstrated significant anticancer effects, suggesting enhanced therapeutic efficacy through improved bioavailability and pharmacological activities.
