TLDR A rare skin condition was misdiagnosed as a harmless mole on a woman's eyelid.
The document reported a rare case of focal perifollicular mucinosis of the eyelid in a 58-year-old female, presenting as a benign nevus. The lesion was excised and diagnosed histopathologically, showing abundant dermal mucinous deposits and fibroblasts. The patient had no recurrence over a 3-year follow-up. This case highlighted the importance of tissue diagnosis for accurate identification and management of such rare lesions, which can mimic other conditions and may be associated with systemic diseases. The study aimed to raise awareness among ophthalmologists about this rare entity.
