TLDR More research is needed to find effective treatments for Female Pattern Hair Loss.
The 2020 document discussed Female Pattern Hair Loss (FPHL), the most common type of alopecia in women, affecting 29% to 38% of women up to menopause and over 55% of women over 70. FPHL can cause psychological issues such as anxiety and depression due to altered body image. The cause of FPHL is multifactorial and not precisely known. The study also discussed various treatments including low-intensity laser treatment, finasteride, dutasteride, and others. However, none of these treatments have proven definitive and many have low scientific evidence. The study concluded that more double-blind randomized studies are needed to establish the most effective treatments.
