Familial Sexual Precocity: A Review of 58 Cases

    Reuben D. Rohn
TLDR Familial sexual precocity in girls may be more common than previously thought.
A review of 58 girls diagnosed with isosexual precocious puberty at an endocrine clinic over six years revealed that 5.2% had family histories of sexual precocity, challenging the notion of its rarity in females. One case detailed a girl who began breast development at 6 years and pubic hair development at 7½ years, with advanced bone and height age, and hormone levels indicating early puberty.
