TLDR IGF-I helps hair growth by preventing cell death and boosting growth factors.
The study by Ahn SY et al. demonstrated that insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-I) played a crucial role in maintaining the anagen phase of hair growth. The research highlighted that the effect of IGF-I on hair growth was associated with its anti-apoptotic properties and the up-regulation of platelet-derived growth factors PDGF-A and PDGF-B. This finding suggested that IGF-I contributed to hair follicle health by preventing cell death and promoting factors that support hair growth.
