TLDR Tattoo markers help place ear prostheses easily and improve acceptance.
This clinical report discusses the use of tattoo markers as a guide for the placement of auricular prostheses. The authors found that tattoo marks can be used as guides when all other references are lost, simplifying the orientation of the ear prosthesis and providing better acceptance of an adhesive-retained auricular prosthesis. The tattooing procedure was performed 2 years after the surgery, and the authors preferred to outline the area rather than use several dots because the shade of the tattoo pigment was close to the patient's graft shade, and the auricular area was not easily visible to the patient.
