TLDR Platelet-rich plasma shows promise for treating erectile dysfunction, but more research is needed.
This review examined the potential of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) as a treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED), a condition affecting 12–19% of men of reproductive age and more prevalent in men with infertility issues. Traditional treatments for ED, such as oral medications, provided only temporary relief without addressing the underlying disease progression, often requiring lifelong use. In contrast, regenerative medicine, including PRP, was explored for its potential to reverse or halt the progression of ED. The article reviewed existing evidence on the use of intracavernosal PRP injections, suggesting a promising new frontier in ED treatment, although further research was needed to establish its efficacy and safety.
