TLDR A mare had a functional ovary with a tumor containing cartilage and bone.
The document reported a case of an ovarian teratoma in a mare, characterized by an 8 cm ovary containing a 4 cm antral follicle with cartilage and bone fragments. Histological analysis revealed normal ovarian tissue with active antral follicles, hemorrhagic follicles, and multiple tissue neoformations, including epidermis, dermis, and skin appendages. Despite the teratoma, the ovary appeared functional, as indicated by the presence of active follicles and signs of recent ovulation.
