Epilepsy is a prevalent central nervous system disorder with historical roots and a significant impact on patients' psychological, social, and community well-being due to its associated stigma. Historically, treatments ranged from exorcism to trepanation until modern scientific therapies emerged in the 19th century. The document aims to guide physicians in managing epilepsy by addressing four key questions: confirming the diagnosis, identifying the type of seizures or syndrome, determining the cause, and deciding on the appropriate management approach to mitigate the disease's devastating effects.
