This review focuses on the role of epigenetic regulation in the development of plant trichomes, which are specialized appendages from epidermal cells important for plant growth. It highlights the recent discovery that epigenetic factors, particularly microRNA-mediated post-transcriptional regulation, are involved in trichome formation. The review builds on existing knowledge of hormones and transcription factors in trichome development and aims to enhance understanding of the regulatory mechanisms involved. It also suggests future research directions in the field of epigenetics related to epidermal hair growth.
