TLDR An epidermoid cyst in a dog's mammary gland is rare and benign.
This paper reports the first documented case of an epidermoid cyst in the mammary gland of a 12-year-old mixed-breed bitch. The cyst, found in the caudal thoracic gland, was characterized by a well-defined lump filled with keratin and surrounded by a thick layer of stratified squamous epithelium. Histopathological examination confirmed the benign nature of the lesion, with no malignant criteria observed. The study highlights the rarity of such cysts in canine mammary glands and emphasizes the need for pathologists to consider epidermoid cysts as a differential diagnosis during mammary gland examinations.
