TLDR Viral warts are common in children, so prevention against HPV is important.
This study, conducted over 18 months in the mid-western Anatolian region of Turkey, focused on the epidemiology of pediatric skin diseases. It found that infectious diseases were the most common, with viral warts accounting for 17.5% of cases. Acne and acneiform diseases were the second most prevalent at 19.9%, followed by allergic diseases at 14.5%. Histopathology was used in 5.2% of cases, primarily for diagnosing inflammatory and tumoral lesions. Topical treatments were prescribed in 49.3% of cases, while systemic treatments were used in 32.4%. The study concluded that viral warts were a significant concern, suggesting that public health efforts should include preventive measures against HPV transmission in children.
