TLDR During the COVID-19 lockdown, there were fewer cases of mild skin issues and more cases of stress-related skin conditions.
The study conducted during the COVID-19 lockdown in North India observed a significant decrease in dermatology cases such as acne, male and female pattern hair loss, verrucae, seborrheic dermatitis, ephelids, melasma, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which are conditions not associated with significant morbidity. Conversely, there was a notable increase in cases of urticaria, herpes zoster, scabies, generalized pruritus, and prurigo. This shift in dermatological presentations during the lockdown period highlighted changes in healthcare-seeking behavior and possibly the impact of stress and lifestyle changes during the pandemic.
