TLDR The method greatly improves low-light sports images' quality and reduces artifacts.
The paper presents a method for enhancing low-light sports images using improved bilateral filtering and Auto MSRCR. The approach involves applying the MSR algorithm in the HSV color space for brightness enhancement, followed by CLAHE in the LAB color space for detail enhancement. The enhanced image is then combined with the original using Auto MSRCR and processed with Wiener filtering to reduce motion blur. The method significantly improves visual quality and objective metrics, such as a 65.24% increase in UCIQE score, compared to existing methods like MSRCR and CLAHE. It also reduces halo artifacts and over-enhancement by 35% compared to MSRCR, validated on the LOL dataset.
