TLDR Camel hair from Afif can be improved for textiles by adding chemicals or blending with other fibers.
The study aimed to enhance the physical and chemical properties of camel hair fiber from Afif province by adding improving agents. Using an experimental method, 50 samples were collected and analyzed. The camel hair was found to have qualities suitable for textiles, with fineness ranging from 24.5 to 29 μ, strength between 5.3 to 12 cn/tex, and fiber length from 3.8 to 25.5 cm. The colors included black, brown, light brown, light beige, and dark beige. Chemically, it was similar to global wool standards, with moisture absorption between 0.10% to 0.26% and protein content from 52% to 95%. It could withstand temperatures up to 140°C without softening or melting. The properties could be improved by adding chemicals like acetic acid to enhance softness without affecting strength and length, or by blending with other fibers.
