The Efficacy of Platelet-Rich Plasma in the Treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia

TLDR PRP improves hair growth short-term but may need retreatment for long-term results.
The study assessed the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 30 patients (15 males and 15 females) over a series of 6 sessions. Short-term results up to 4 months showed statistically significant improvements in hair density and hair pull test results. However, long-term results from the 5th month to 1 year indicated a decline in these improvements, suggesting the need for retreatment or additional medical treatments like minoxidil or finasteride. PRP was considered a modestly effective tool for AGA treatment, potentially sufficient without additional medical treatments.
