TLDR Taking iron pills does not improve hair loss treatment in women with low iron compared to using minoxidil alone.
The study investigated the effectiveness of oral iron supplementation in treating female pattern hair loss (FPHL) in patients with iron deficiency (ID). The results showed that oral iron supplementation, when used in conjunction with topical 3% minoxidil, was not more effective than using topical 3% minoxidil alone in treating FPHL and ID. This suggests that oral iron supplementation may not provide additional benefits in the treatment of FPHL in patients with ID.
