TLDR Finasteride effectively treats hair loss in Chinese men with minimal side effects.
A 24-week double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of 1 mg/day oral finasteride in treating androgenetic alopecia in 228 Chinese men. The study found that the finasteride group had a total response rate of 70.8%, significantly higher than the 25.5% response rate in the placebo group (P 0.001). Adverse effects were minimal, with a 0.9% incidence in the finasteride group compared to 1.8% in the placebo group.
