Effects of Antiandrogen Treatment on the Sexuality of Women with Hyperandrogenism

TLDR Antiandrogen treatment can reduce sexual enjoyment in women with excess male hormones, especially those in stable relationships.
The study investigated the impact of cyproterone acetate (CPA) treatment on the sexual responsiveness of 61 hirsute women. It found that prior to treatment, 21% of these women were already experiencing sexual dysfunction. Under antiandrogen treatment, 44% reported a decrease in sexual enjoyment, which increased to 61% among those in a stable partnership. These findings highlight the importance of informing women about the potential sexual side effects of CPA treatment for hirsutism.
