TLDR Minoxidil is effective in treating traction alopecia.
In 2020, a study was conducted on 10 patients aged between 20 and 45 years with traction alopecia (TA), a type of hair loss caused by ongoing or repetitive tension on the hair. The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of minoxidil in treating TA. The results showed clinical improvement in most cases, with an increase in hair growth and density within the affected areas. This improvement began around 3 months into treatment and was completed by 6 months. The study concluded that minoxidil is a good alternative for medically treating TA.
