TLDR Mindfulness intervention greatly improves quality of life and reduces distress in women with breast cancer.
The study investigated the impact of mindfulness-based intervention on alopecia distress, body image changes, and health-related quality of life among 110 women with breast cancer experiencing chemotherapy-induced alopecia. Results showed a significant reduction in alopecia distress from 89.1% to 10.9% post-intervention, and an improvement in quality of life from 40.0% to 63.6%. There were statistically significant differences in coping with body image changes and quality of life before and after the intervention. Mindful attention awareness was negatively correlated with alopecia distress and positively correlated with coping with body image changes. The study concludes that mindfulness intervention significantly improves psychological outcomes and quality of life for these women.
