TLDR Metabolic syndrome worsens treatment outcomes for urinary symptoms in men with enlarged prostate.
The study investigated the impact of metabolic syndrome on the treatment outcomes of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in males with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It found that metabolic syndrome negatively affected the treatment outcomes for LUTS in these patients. The presence of metabolic syndrome was associated with a less favorable response to standard treatments for BPH-related symptoms. The study highlighted the importance of considering metabolic syndrome as a factor in managing and treating LUTS in males with BPH to improve treatment efficacy.
