TLDR Modified Aloe vera gel helped reduce liver damage and promote hair regrowth in mice.
The study aimed to evaluate the reversibility of hair loss and liver enzyme variations in albino mice induced by oral administration of carbon tetrachloride and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). The mice were treated with modified Aloe vera gel (GSM) at a daily dose of 8 mL/kg. Results showed a significant and progressive decrease in liver enzymes AST and ALT over 33 days, with no changes in proteins and phosphatases. Triglyceride levels significantly decreased in the first week. Mice treated with GSM also showed hair regrowth on the chest and snout by day 33. Control groups showed no significant changes in the studied indicators.
