TLDR More oxygen isn't always better and can sometimes be worse.
The authors' positive experiences with hyperbaric oxygen therapy (2.0 ATA for 60 minutes) for sports injuries and cosmetic surgical wounds contrasted with the prevailing medical opinion that it was ineffective for normal wounds. An extensive literature review, initiated with references from Dr. Eric Kindwall, revealed that the outcomes of oxygen therapy follow a hormetic dose-response relationship. This finding helps reconcile their practical successes with the prevailing dogma and provides insights for optimizing clinical treatments using hyperoxic gases at both normobaric and hyperbaric pressures.
