TLDR The herbal oil with Helianthus annuus and Martynia annua seeds promotes significant hair growth.
The study investigated the hair growth potential of a herbal oil formulation containing petroleum ether extract from Helianthus annuus and Martynia annua seeds. The formulations, FO1, FO2, and FO3, were tested on albino mice and showed significant hair growth activity, with FO3 demonstrating the most potential. The herbal formulations exhibited a greater 5-reductase inhibitory effect compared to conventional finasteride. In 30 days, mice treated with FO3 showed a remarkable increase in hair length (22.26 mm) and thickness (0.020 mm), comparable to the effects of 2% minoxidil. These findings suggest that the seeds of Martynia annua and Helianthus annuus may promote hair development.
