    In 1999, a study was conducted to develop and validate the VQ-Dermato, a French-language quality of life (QoL) measurement tool for chronic skin disorders. The study included 231 patients and resulted in a 28-question questionnaire that covers seven dimensions of QoL. The VQ-Dermato demonstrated good validity, with high discrimination indices, and explained 72% of the total variance. It showed strong correlations with the SF36 scale and had Cronbach's alpha coefficients ranging from 0.67 to 0.88, indicating good internal consistency. The tool was responsive to clinical improvement, stable over time, and had a low percentage of missing responses, with completion time under 13 minutes. The study concluded that the VQ-Dermato is a valid, reliable, and responsive QoL instrument for chronic skin disorders in French, suitable for routine clinical use.
