TLDR The herbal hair oil was more effective at reducing hair fall than coconut oil.
This study, conducted by Routi Herbal Limited, aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a herbal hair oil formulation in reducing hair fall compared to simple purified coconut oil. The experimental oil contained ingredients such as Nigella sativa, Cocos nucifera, Emblica officinalis, Lawsonia alba, Cynodon dactylon, and Trigonella foenum-graecum. A total of 25 volunteers, both men and women, were divided into three groups and observed over a period of 90 days. The results showed a significant reduction in hair fall with percentages decreasing from 76% at 15 days to 0% at 90 days for the group using the experimental herbal hair oil. The study aimed to demonstrate the superiority of the test herbal hair oil over simple coconut oil in reducing hair fall. Additionally, the document touches on the issue of hair discrimination, particularly against black hair, and its negative impact on the mental and physical health of individuals of African descent, framing it within the context of social determinants of health.
