TLDR Many students at Rajarata University in Sri Lanka experience skin issues like acne, causing significant stress and concern.
This study investigated the prevalence and psychosocial impact of dermatological conditions among 614 undergraduates at Rajarata University in Sri Lanka. It found that 53% of participants reported experiencing a dermatological issue during their university years, with acne being the most common. The study highlighted significant psychological distress associated with these conditions, as 89.7% of participants expressed concern over their skin issues. Common responses included self-medication and consulting a doctor. The findings suggest a need for targeted health interventions to address the high prevalence and associated psychosocial effects of dermatological conditions to improve students' quality of life.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
