TLDR Curcumin improves blood sugar and cholesterol in PCOS patients.
The study evaluated the effects of curcumin on glycemic control and lipid profile in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) by analyzing three randomized control trials. Curcumin significantly improved fasting glucose, fasting insulin, insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), insulin sensitivity (QUICKI), high-density lipoprotein, and total cholesterol levels. However, it did not show a statistically significant difference in low-density lipoprotein and triglyceride levels compared to placebo. The findings suggested that curcumin could enhance glycemic control and lipid metabolism in PCOS patients without significant adverse effects, though further research was recommended to explore its effects on hyperandrogenism.
