TLDR Females have higher Dechlorane Plus in hair, while males have more in dorm dust.
The study investigated Dechlorane Plus (DP) concentrations in hair and indoor dust samples from male and female students at a university in Beijing. It found that DP concentrations were higher in male dormitory dust compared to female dormitory dust, while female hair had higher DP concentrations than male hair. The study suggested that DP in hair primarily originated from endogenous exposure rather than from dust. Anti-DP was found to bind more effectively to human serum albumin (HSA) than syn-DP, and there were indications of stereoselective metabolism of DP in humans, with differences observed between males and females. The findings highlighted potential differences in DP metabolism between genders, particularly concerning anti-DP.
