TLDR Cyproterone and finasteride reduced hypersexuality but caused serious side effects.
A 74-year-old man with a history of hypersexuality received cyproterone for the treatment of his distress and high sexual desire. His sexual desire diminished in 12 days, but after 40 days of treatment, he developed anaemia which required blood transfusions. His cyproterone treatment was stopped. Two months later, he received finasteride treatment but after 7 days he developed a generalized rash and itching which required finasteride discontinuation. The author commented that hormonal treatments for hypersexuality were faced with serious side effects.
