TLDR A rare skin condition in children can look like other diseases.
A 12-year-old Chinese girl presented with a 1-year history of a well-defined, hypopigmented plaque on her chin, diagnosed as cutaneous focal mucinosis, a rare condition in children characterized by the accumulation of mucin in the skin or hair follicle. This case highlighted the diverse morphologic presentations of dermal mucinoses and their potential for being mistaken for other diseases.
