    Peptide-based hydrogels are highlighted as promising materials for chronic wound healing due to their biocompatibility, biodegradability, and ability to mimic the extracellular matrix, which supports cell proliferation and tissue regeneration. These hydrogels maintain a moist wound environment, absorb exudate, and facilitate oxygen absorption, accelerating the healing process. They can be customized to release therapeutic agents and incorporate bioactive molecules, enhancing their therapeutic efficacy. Studies, including those on diabetic models, show significant improvements in wound healing, such as increased cell viability and reduced inflammation. Despite challenges like enzymatic degradation and production costs, peptide-based hydrogels offer a promising alternative to traditional treatments, with ongoing research needed to optimize their properties for clinical use.
